Eight, Nine, Ten…Baby Simeon Just Keeps Growing

If I don’t post about his month milestones, will he slow down a bit??

Here is Simeon at eight months…

I think this might have been the peak of his rolly-polly cuteness. Those rolls! Those cheeks! Aren’t they fantastic??

Little Simeon started crawling just a few weeks after these photos were taken. He had a perfect little crawl – just like you would imagine. He did “plank” poses for a week or two prior to actually taking off. For several weeks, crawling just a short distance opened up enough of a new perspective for him to be content for a long time. You can see that he’s trying to move…

Eight months was a sweet age for Sim. He was not too quick to move, and he still felt comfortable going to just about anyone. His sleep was consistent  – long stretches at night and three naps during the day.

Nine months marked a big change for Simmy-o. He was able to crawl well and begin to move all over the house. He got sick for the first time (while we were on our Florida vacation, actually). We powered through the six days of fevers and pathetic cries with mostly natural remedies, extra rest, and lots of prayers.

After the sickness, he started eating more solid food – even sitting content in his high chair for longer periods of time, exploring and picking up food bits to eat. He started needed much more frequent baths (especially after meal times). He hit a relatively light stranger anxiety phase – mostly he just acts a little shy or makes a hilarious scene when he’s ready to be back with momma. He also had some sleep disturbance and some adjusting as he dropped his third nap. He started waving, babbling with a variety of new sounds, and attempting to clap. All this to say, nine months required quite a bit of adjustment for me, too. Here he is at nine months…

On Sunday, Simeon hit the TEN month mark. The thought of a first birthday less than two months away gives me an anxiety attack. Where has this year gone?? And yet, it has been one of the sweetest years of my life. This babe has captured my heart, and it has been a joy to watch him capture the hearts of his daddy and his siblings.

At ten months, he is as happy and captivating as ever. He can now say Mama, Dada, bye bye, and no. He says “no” in this darling sweet voice. He has no idea what it means, but he says it in response to my questions…like, “Is everybody ready to go?” It cracks me up every time. He also babbles on about other adorable things that we like to pretend make sense.

Also, he has this really odd, but quite strong, musky odor. We don’t know what it comes from – maybe from the liver and bone marrow he eats regularly?? – whatever the case, it’s a smell that doesn’t wash away. It’s just his odd smell. And, somehow I just love that smell.

Simeon has started pulling up more in the past few days. He will take steps when some one holds his hands. And, today, he stood up unassisted for the first time. Slow down, baby boy!! Oh man, this face full of expression and love and life melts me. Here’s our Simeon Thomas at ten months old…
